# VPN detected

> Your connection looks like a VPN or proxy. Here's how to verify anyway.

> VPN detected, turn it off and try again

The server blocks VPNs and proxies, because they make it easy to dodge bans and create alt accounts. AuthenticateMe flagged your connection as one.

## Fix it

1. Turn off your VPN or proxy while you verify. You can turn it back on afterwards.
2. On an iPhone, iPad, or Mac with iCloud+, turn off **iCloud Private Relay**. Apple explains how for [iPhone and iPad](https://support.apple.com/guide/iphone/iph499d287c2/ios) and [Mac](https://support.apple.com/guide/mac-help/mchlecadabe0/mac).
3. Verify from your home internet connection. School, work, café, and hotel networks often run through data centers and look like a VPN.

> [!TIP]
>
> A regular home broadband connection works best.

If you have no other connection, mobile data may work, unless the server also blocks it. Some privacy browsers route traffic through their own servers too, so try a regular browser as well.

## Still blocked?

Contact the server's staff. They can verify you themselves or send you a [bypass link](https://docs.authenticateme.xyz/moderation/bypasses.md).
