# Alternative account detected

We understand that some users may encounter this error even though they have a single account only, but you may encounter this error for the following reasons.

## Possibilities

You may have:

* Another user on your network verified in the same server
* Another user that verified with the same device credentials
* Verified on someone else's network (friends' / workplace / public WiFi is strongly not recommended)
* An old suspended / deleted account on Discord
* A personal alternate account

## Our Policy

We do not allow users who've attempted to verify with this error received, to be allowed to modify their details in our database.

As an authentication provider, we seek your understanding that we would not like to interfere in server related matters which includes modifying the user base- which can lead to platform distrust and privacy issues.

We respect the server's motives for keeping their server a clean, safe and fair environment for other users to interact in if the anti-alt setting is enabled.

## How do I remedy this?

If you do encounter this error upon joining a server, we suggest contacting the server's moderation team and explain your situation to them. The decision made to allow you into the server is completely discretionary of the server's moderator / admin.
